4th Grade - Ms. Lauren Long
Meet Ms. Long
Hello! Welcome to room 12. I am so excited to be a part of the Beresford family. I am a Chicago native who now lives in San Francisco. During my elementary school years I absolutely loved school and adored my teachers. On the last day of school every year I would cry because I would miss my friends, teachers, and learning.
I went on to attend college at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies. While there I also received my multiple subject teaching credential. My passions for teaching and traveling have taken me abroad to live and teach in both Tanzania and Peru for consecutive summers.
My teaching career began in East Palo Alto where I taught third grade for two years and then fourth grade for one year. Here at Beresford I am excited to teach fifth grade this school year. I love teaching social studies and spreading a love of books to students. One of my favorite parts of the day is when we get to sit down as a class and discuss a wonderful story or share book recommendations.
In my free time I spend my time reading (no surprise there), hiking/running, or exploring great places to eat. I try to continually set challenges and work to achieve personal goals. In the past two years, I trained to run a marathon and I returned to Tanzania to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.
