3rd Grade - Mrs. Amy Swerdlin & Mrs. Kelly Virgillito
Welcome to Third grade!
All About Mrs. Swerdlin
Welcome to Room 4! I am so excited to be your child’s teacher. I have been teaching in the San Mateo-Foster City School District for 11 years. I have enjoyed teaching 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. I have a Bachelors of Arts degree in Art History, and I began my teaching career educating children and tourists in art history. I had an internship at The Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy. That is where I learned that I wanted to spend my life as an educator.
I am passionate about learning, and I consider myself a lifelong learner. I am interested in multiple intelligences and different learning styles. I strive to continue to grow as a great educator, someone your child deserves. At Beresford, I am currently on the PBIS team and Student Council. I have two young children of my own, which I feel helps me see a child from different perspectives. I volunteer and serve as room parent in my daughter’s classroom. I also volunteer and help organize activities at my son’s preschool.
I live in San Francisco with my husband Daniel, daughter Madeleine, and spirited toddler Ben. In my free time, I enjoy film, exercise, travel, and exploring the city.
All About Mrs. Virgillito
Welcome to wonderful Room 4! I am delighted to have the opportunity to educate your children! I have been teaching at Beresford for 12 years! Here, I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. I love working in education and strive to create life-long learners in every student. Beresford is like a second home to me. Being involved with the staff, families, and students here, is truly one of a kind. I feel so blessed to be part of such an amazing school and community.
I started my career in education in preschool. I have an Associates of Arts degree in Child Development. After teaching toddlers for a bit, I knew I wanted to continue my education in teaching and pursue a degree to educate elementary aged students. I went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from San Francisco State University, and then obtained a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Notre Dame de Namur University. I have 3 children of my own and am very active in their education as well. At my daughters school, I help organize school activities and fundraisers, volunteer in the class, and chaperone on field trips. I also co-op at my sons preschool, chairing the auction fundraiser, working in the classroom once a week, and maintaining the monthly class schedule.
I live in San Mateo with my husband Valerio, daughter Isabella, and my two sons Luca and Lorenzo. I love to travel with my husband and children and our favorite place to visit is Italy where we immerse ourselves in history, culture, art, and delightful cuisine!
