Hello everyone and welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! I'm so excited to be teaching 2nd grade again this year. This is my 6th year teaching at Beresford, and 7th year teaching overall. I've taught first grade, a first/second grade combination class, and now I am loving second grade. I earned my Bachelors degree from UCLA in English, and completed my teaching credential at San Jose State University. I am currently earning a Masters Degree in Educational Administration - I'll be done June 2018!
At Beresford, I've truly found a home and community. I stay busy by fulfilling many different roles at school. I love using my Growth Mindset to challenge myself to try new things.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my wonderful niece. I also like to travel and participate actively in my church community. Otherwise, I love to read, bake and cook, do crafts, and spend time outside. My challenge for myself this year is to go someplace new each month and take Zumba classes once a week because I love to dance!
Dear Room 10 families,
As the holidays are approaching, I know this can be a very busy time of year. Please make sure your child is still getting a good night’s sleep so they can be at their best each day!
Here is what we are currently working on:
Thematic Unit of Study: Plants and Animals
Benchmark Advance: Unit 3- Plants and Animals in their habitat
Reading: We are working on identifying the main idea of a text based on the key details and text features.
Writing: We will be writing an Animal Report. Students will choose an animal, gather information about the animal from books, and write a five paragraph essay about their animal.
Envision Math: Topic 8 - Adding Two-Digit Numbers
LIFESKILLS of the month are Active Listening, Cooperation, and Patience. Please talk with your students about how to live these LIFESKILLS everyday.
Winter break approaches and students will be out of school for two weeks, so I have three requests:
